Re: iMac Pro with Radeon Pro Vega

extra money for a slower card. Also Apple writes and approves the Mac OS drivers so you're generally using old, very safely adjusted drives which will also kill your performance.

Apple is not good in the 3D game currently. Not even close.

Re: iMac Pro with Radeon Pro Vega

Build a windows pc. Put the best Nvidia Geforce GPU you can afford in it. Have fun!

Mac's aren't great for GPU rendering. OpenCL isn't nearly as good as CUDA. Save money and buy something more powerful at the same time.

Re: Quick Tips & Tricks

Stumbled across this in another thread from Mario: Hi, here a list of render optimisations I usually try to reduce memory usage. Maybe some of them might help with your scene: - use render instances / cyinstance tag and enable render instance in mograph objects cloner, matrix) - split foreground, mid...

Could you elaborate on why you choose not to use lights?

Re: projector

What is the "Fix Image Deformation" group all about? Is there a bug in cycles that this compensates for?

3DCoat PBR to Cy4D?

I've seen a couple of cool threads about getting substance painter materials to work with Cycles 4D. Would the principled PBR shader also be able to use exported 3dCoat PBR materials?

Re: Worn edges?

What is going on with the pointiness node? I tried it out when Cycles 4D first released but I couldn't get any predictable results.

Re: wanted to say

It all depends on how you're working. Are you working Linearly in both C4D and BMF? What color depth are you working with in Fusion; 8-bit, 16, 32? What file format are you exporting from C4d? Personally I primarily use EXR and TIFF.

Re: wanted to say

...I guess we have to wait for the core to be altered to fit the needs of a real world workflow. I don't understand why this is. Nuke and BM Fusion both use aliased mattes and buffers. AE is actually the outlier that uses non-industry standard (for compositing) anti-aliased mattes. I will agree tha...

Re: wanted to say

Hey there, I still like cycles very much and try to work with it as often as I can..but, there is always a but. Since a decent amount of my work is compositing I need good object buffers. And I have asked about them before but is there any news out there about it cuz it makes my life a lot harder n...
