Re: Match bg image to output resolution/proportions

Update: I've almost got it to work by swapping the 'environment texture' node for an normal 'image texture' node in the HDRI split material. I say almost because the actual render is working (after setting mapping to window and flipping Y axis) however the IPR is scaling the image up to its full win...

Match bg image to output resolution/proportions

Hi There, I'm having a nightmare trying to get a super basic thing to work: I have an image I want to render objects into and normally in cinema I'd just load it into a bg object and 'frontal' map it, making sure the output dimensions of the scene match the image. Simple... However in cycles I canno...

Re: Swapping out images during render

D'oh! Forget it, I'm an idiot! I had accidentally clicked the 'colour' box of the texture node so the output was only showing that channel... it's a bit easy to do that actually!

Anyway, once I clicked off that its working perfectly. :-)

Cheers

Swapping out images during render

Hi Folks, I need to render a monitor with a changing image every few seconds. I've tried key framing the texture slot in the image node so its one image at frame x and another at x+1 but although it kind of works while setting it up, as soon as I render the screen goes bright pink? I've tried every ...

please report a bug :)
I'm sure they were matching (but I didn't test with multi pass), so I guess they don't match with multi pass on, which is a bug. (so in the future users get consistent result without having to set the buffer to linear).
How do I report bugs?

Re: Brightness issue new version. How can I fix this?

Also, just FYI, turning off Multi Pass fixes this regardless of your save settings. So if you don't need multiple passes it works fine

Re: CUDA . out of Memory

Hi There,

Could you let me know the steps you took to sort this (I'm new to PC's so assume I know nothing).

I'm having constant CUDA memory errors all the time since the last Cycles update and I too have a Gigabyte Aorus (X399 Gaming 7)

Many thanks

Re: Are 'questions' possible with nodes?

That's interesting. I didn't know expresso could talk to Cycles nodes. I don't know it that well and I'm very new to Cycles. However I did manage to get it working by using a Cycles object tag, where I set the object ID, then an 'Object info' node fed into the 'input number' of your group. Worked a ...

Re: Are 'questions' possible with nodes?

Thanks, I have had a look at that but it is randomly picking each texture and I need to be able to control which texture is on which button. Potentially it could be the way to go with an adapted version but my nodesmanship and or math ability doesn't know where to start to adapt it!

Thanks anyway

Are 'questions' possible with nodes?

Hi Chaps, Happy New Year and all that. I am rendering a model of a mixing desk and it has tons of little glowing buttons with a different image in each one.. To save making loads of textures I managed to use the attribute node to allow the glow colour of each button to be the same as the 'object col...

Re: Hide object from Alpha

Ha! You're right. I'd switched it off on an earlier test. Well spotted sir!

Its working now. I'm really starting to like Cycles 4D a lot. Having used many other renderers over the years this one is rapidly becoming my favourite!

Thanks Mohamed

Re: Hide object from Alpha

Hi Mohamed,

Just tried that. Added the 'stage' material to the add shader and the holdout to the other input of the add shader. I can see the stage in the render which is great, but its still showing in the alpha channel...?

I'm thinking its just not possible with Cycles :-(

Thanks

Re: Hide object from Alpha

Yes. I mention that in the question :-)

That doesn’t work because it cuts the whole thing out. I need to see it in the render, with its material, but not in the alpha channel

Hide object from Alpha

Hi There, I'm rendering a glass bottle on a background 'stage'. I need the alpha channel of the final render to not have the stage in it so I can cut out the bottle however I still want to see the stage object in the render. How can I do this in Cycles? Its a doddle in other renders usually using an...
