I think that Houdini has one of the greatest Node trees with lot's of customization options.
For example if you hit the letter P when a node is selected, you can activate a floating Parameters editor. This could be used for the Node and Material Settings of a Node in Cycles.

Maybe you could take a look if you find some more ideas that could be brought into Cycles.

It would also be great if you could release some tutorials about the Desnoiser and how to best use the branched Path Tracing.

Something like the variation shader from C4d would also be cool to have in Cycles

Now that we got the shadow catcher option, it would also be great to have the option for catching reflections.

I would love to have a preference to start the RTP manually on start up of a scene. Because when working on a heavy scene it takes quite a bit of time for the RTP to kick in as it propbably has to load up all the assets. But if the RTP would be in Pause Mode until we tell it to start we would be able to start working on the scene as soon as it is opened.

Render Presets for preview and final renders.

A switch node in the matieral editor would be great as it would make experimenting even easier. This way we might be able to use takes to render out alternative designs more easily.

And a Blur node might also be handy if you need to blur a texture/HDR

Try this blur node.

Nice approach but unfortunately it doesn't work with environment textures. I mainly want to use it to blur a HDR so that it wouldn't be so sharp in reflections. I use this technique from time to time to save some rendertime as bluring the HDR seems to be a lot faster than using roughness in the shaders.

Butt still a pretty handy node group.

for blur, why not just use the HDRI image and disable load from disk option? make the size something small like 512x512 and it will be so blurry and fast to render also.

when I added the option to cache textures (by turning off load from disk), it was intended mainly for such cases like HDRI where you need smaller images for emissive environment yet larger ones for direct reflections, also for caching Cinema4D Shaders like noise, gradient, etc...

The cryptomatte in vray for 3dsmax looks pretty sweet https://youtu.be/3ZVzxCnF2Go?t=109 As far as I understand it it looks through the scene and automatically assigns object ids.
