Tri-Planar mapping is possible with Cycles 4D! I found a very nice Blender Nodegroup from Oskar Swierad and rebuild it within Cycles 4D.

To use it: just load the nodegroup and change the image textures within.

If you need to scale or rotate the texture use the unfolded mapping node.

Thanks Martin!

And here a first update:: I figured out that the Local Position is accessible via the Texture Coordinate Object port. This way you can now have the Tri Planar Projection matched to your object rotation.

Will update the files in the top post.

Cheers,

Ok, this looks very usefull.
Can we expect something like this in a node in the future.
Could there be a possibility to use one texture on all 3 axis and not to adjust it all manually? Just an option to use 1 texture in all 3 slots..
Also another question is, where do I adjust the overlap length between the textures in your node group?

Thanku

Nick

Groups are broken, rotation and scale don't work after the update for me.
Copy and paste yourself everything into new groups.

You can create custom mapping node with controls outside group and with 3 outputs, then connect outputs to 3 image textures and then blend them. Not possible with one node I think. Tri-planar is a technique for mapping and blending multiple textures (could be all different) and not just single one.

OK, I found a solution for you. Will try to recreate in Cycles 4D one node setup created by Blender user nutelZ.

Nearly done.
The setup has 2 options 3 or 6 textures. E.g. you can cover all cube sides with all different textures and blend them.
You can use 1 Image texture as you can see. The setup is huge, tons of math nodes and I did a mistake (I think X-axis) somewhere while connecting nodes. I'll try to find it again.

Volunteers needed :D nickyc maybe you?
I ran through the setup few times every node and can't find the difference compared to blender file, eyes tired.
Added .blend and .c4d files to the zip, so you can compare side by side, blender file is working as expected.
If there is a mistake please fix and share in the new thread, if zero mistakes then probably we have a bug in Cycles 4D.

Been a while back but haven't gotten the time to get into it:(
But I downloaded the file and I don't know where it goes wrong in the big soup of noodles.
I am not familiar with blender so I can't go into that rabit hole..
But I hope we will get a great node for it, the use of tri-planar is great.
